That range gives a wall enough variation to look natural and hand-built while staying long enough to tie courses together for real structural stability — shorter pieces alone tend to look choppy and aren't as stable when dry-stacked.

It depends on wall height and thickness, but as a starting point, plan on roughly 1 ton per 35–45 sq ft of wall face for a standard 12″ thick dry-stack wall. Tell us your wall dimensions and we'll help size the order more precisely.
